Bethesda: Wii doesn’t fit with us

JUL 30 2010

Bethesda Game Studios executive producer Todd Howard has been explaining their reasons behind their neglecting Nintendo’s platforms.

Howard told IndustryGamers that Nintendo’s platforms just aren’t suitable for they kind of titles that they are developing at Bethesda.

Howard said on the Nintendo question: “The stuff we’re doing is a better fit on the other platforms. You can never say never, but I think for the kind of games that we like to play and make, it fits the other platforms.”

Although the Wii’s lack of visual prowess is a major factor in their decision the Wii’s casual demographic also plays a part discouraging Bethesda from developing on the console.

Howard added: “Even if there’s going to be some bigger, more mature games on it, the system, for better or worse, has been moved to this demographic. if we had an idea that we thought would really take advantage of that platform, we would do something for it. Usually, we’re thinking more in terms of graphically doing things that the other systems do. That’s what we get excited about.”

Dolce & Gabbana Watches

Dolce & Gabbana watches are part of the larger and elite line of fashionable pieces that fall under this company’s products. Dolce & Gabbana offer an outstanding fashion line, and the company is considered one of the leading fashion houses in the world. The company is based out of Italy. some of today’s top stars wear this brand including their watches. this includes stars like Monica Bellucci, Madonna and Christina Aguilera, to name just a few.

Dolce & Gabbana watches are part of this company’s legacy, which dates back much farther. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, both well-known and respected Italian designers, started the company. Today the company is based in Milan and has a rich, 750 million Euro in turnover (in 2005.) The company was formed only in 1985, but the story of these watches and their designers dates back farther.

Domenico Dolce was born in 1958 in Sicily. Stefano Gabbana was born in 1962 in Milan. The two first met in 1980 when they worked together as assistants in an atelier in Milan. The two worked together formally by forming the business in 1982, but they continued to do freelance design work for many other designers and manufactures at the time. The two got their real opportunity to shine in 1985 when a group organized an event that would showcase the new talents in the area. They appeared as part of the Milano Collezioni and put on a fashion show that was adored by attendees. it would only take them one year later to launch their first full ready to wear line of women’s clothing. that line of clothing would earn the two international fame for its design and fashion inspiration.

Dolce & Gabbana watches were part of the further explorations of the two designers. Within just a few years of their fashion show, the two extended their lines beyond just the clothing lines offering lingerie, beachwear, knitwear and later accessories. They also offered a line of men’s clothing and fragrances. The company was an international success already but the opening of their first boutique in 1989 in Tokyo really sealed their international fame.

Dolce & Gabbana watches are sold under the trademarked D&G label. this line offers more casual pieces that are often considered urban inspired. The company’s line of watches are trend setters and they appeal to a wide crowd. Also in the D & G line is underwear, fragrances, jewelry, corrective eyewear, beachwear and a limited additional Motorola RAZR mobile phone.

Dolce & Gabbana watches are designed to be accurate but fun. They are classically designed, but many offer larger faces with more urban elements to them. Dolce & Gabbana watches are part of the company’s accessory line, but many of these timepieces stand out as leading fashion pieces in their own right. Many offer sophistication and elegance without compromising the true quality that the company has been known for since it was started. Dolce & Gabbana watches offer a stylish trend for tomorrow, not just today.

Should all retailers get someone to throw something at bush to get a surge in sales?(see link)?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/18/20081222/tod…

LMAO. seriously, views on the article tvm.

This is funny, and in this day I would take business anyway I could get it, but here in the states, if I threw anything at a president or president elect, I would fear for my life. I might end up in Guantanamo as a terrorist suspect.

personally i would make it cabbages, just about Bush's intelligence, and besides why waste a good pair of shoes on such a fool

Should all retailers get someone to throw something at bush to get a surge in sales?(see link)?

Milan menswear show brings back whimsy, color

If there was a common thread running through the Milan spring-summer 2011 menswear shows that ended last week, it was the notion of light — in every sense of the word. There was a lightness of attitude — not the cautious, bet-hedging, whistle-past-the-graveyard sort seen last season, but what seemed to be a genuine sense of optimism.

It started the night before the official run of shows began, with Missoni’s garden-party presentation of patchwork knits, long-waisted grandfather shirts, cardigans and eye-popping acid greens, lemon yellows and vibrant-hued, color-blocked suede deck shoes against a palette of beige and khaki.

It ended on the last day of the shows, when Giorgio Armani sent a fashion designer’s version of a smiley face emoticon down the runway: slate gray suits paired with pale blue dress shirts and knit vests, a scattering of subtle microdot patterns, and punctuation marks of vivid yellow shoes, belts and pocket squares.

There was lightness in fabrication and construction too: lightweight washed silk, linen and hemp trousers with drawstring waistbands or rope belts at Dolce & Gabbana’s 20th anniversary menswear show, shown with shirts in poplin and muslin cotton, unlined jackets with raw seams and rope sandals that gave the luxury brand a rumpled, sun-drenched, post-beach feel.

There was also a kind of uncomfortable, intense light at times.

Prada’s collection was a preschool paint class full of bright colors, intense blues, bright-orange suit jackets and sweaters with playful bold stripes. The show was staged on a metal grid-like runway sandwiched between banks of fluorescent tubes, creating a post-apocalyptic feel, a a notion underscored by the futuristic wraparound sunglasses the models had slung around their necks.

And then there was the eerie spotlight effect that was used on a handful of pieces in the Alexander McQueen presentation (the first menswear collection to be presented since the designer’s death in February, under the direction of his longtime head of design, Sarah Burton). It used printed trompe l’oeil shadows beneath collars and pocket flaps and created the look of faux bright spots across the shoulders to create the distinct impression of a high-powered spotlight shining down on the wearers.

But this same collection also included a pair of military-inspired stretch trousers with utility pockets near the knee, a variation on the season’s most noticeable trend, the entrenchment of the working man’s cargo pocket in luxury trousers and shorts, as well as its multi-pocketed up-torso cousin: the safari-inspired jacket, like those at Gucci.

If you question the potential luxury-consumer appetite for a rockabilly-themed Versace collection, or D&G aloha-print shirts, it’s hard not to look at those collections — metallic fringe and eye-bending optical prints among the former, picnic-blanket prints and Johnny Depp’s photo circa “Cry-Baby” among the latter — without thinking the designers are eager to inject a little fun back into men’s fashion again.

And they’re banking that by the time spring-summer 2011 comes around, guys will see the light too.

USA: Material Girl fashion ready for back-to-school season at Macy's

USA: Material Girl fashion ready for back-to-school season at Macy’s

Madonna’s brand is expanding and she and her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, who really has a cute style for a teenager, are set to launch a new junior’s fashion line at Macy’s.

The clothing line, called Material Girl, named after Madonna’s 1984 hit song, will debut at Macy’s stores in August, and will feature edgy styles for teenagers for the Fall 2010 season. Prices for the clothing line will range from $12 to $40, and will be available only at Macy’s stores and website.

“I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste,” Madonna said in a statement about her daughter’s involvement. “We like to combine … a plaid or a flannel with a lace, or leather with lace or rhinestones. So we mix and match textures and fabrics and elements that are both masculine and feminine.”

Sketches for the clothing line revealed that clothes and accessories will include nerd glasses, star prints and bustiers underneath blazers in a throwback to the 1980s. The line even looks as though it will feature Madonna’s trademark 1980s fingerless gloves. It’s quite cutesy and colourful, but bear in mind that the target audience is girls aged 13 to 25. Fans expect Lourdes, also known as Lola, will be rocking with her Converse sneakers. It’s rather ’80s with a mod update.

A release said that the line will mix items that don’t usually go together, including “a tutu dress and studded-combat boots, or an oversized boyfriend sweatshirt with a floral print miniskirt.”

At the time of going to press, an online poll on Fox News showed that around 41% repondents said, the collection was “They are just eh, not bad, not great”

Another online poll at freep.com shows that around 27.2% people want Avril Lavigne to be the face of Madonna’s new fashion line.

It has been reported that Lourdes Leone is keen to pursue a career in acting and even won a place at New York’s ‘Fame’ high school after impressing the board during a private audition.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Material Girl is being designed in collaboration with the in-house design team at Iconix Brand Group. The New York-based firm owns several other lines aimed at the gum-smacking set, including Bongo, Rampage and Candie’s, and has stakes in Ed Hardy and Danskin. Madonna and her manager, Guy Oseary, formed a new company, MG Icon, to focus on future fashion projects, including eyewear. MG (Madonna and Guy) owns 50% of Material Girl, and Iconix owns the other 50%.

LA Times reports, this is not Madonna’s first go at fashion. In 2007, she teamed up with H&M for the M by Madonna line, with styles deemed too staid by some critics (a white trench coat and white sequined minidress were top sellers, but there wasn’t a cone bra in sight). And she has also had a long friendship with Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who cast her as a Sicilian housewife for their spring 2010 advertising campaign, doing dishes and eating spaghetti with her hands.

Madonna, who grew up in Rochester Hills, has expressed more than once her desire to distance herself from the moniker Material Girl, which she was given in 1985 when her song of that name was released. She once told MTV News: “If I had known …that for the rest of my life I was going to be referred to as the Material Girl, I probably wouldn’t have done it.”

About MadonnaRecognized as one of the biggest-selling artists in music history, Madonna has sold more than 250 million records within 20 years of her career. She is ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century, and the second top-selling female artist in the United States behind Barbra Streisand, with 64 million certified albums. Guinness World Records listed her as the world’s most successful female recording artist of all time.

In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two behind only The Beatles, on the “Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists”, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Considered to be one of the most influential figures in contemporary music, Madonna is known for continuously reinventing both her music and image, and for retaining a standard of autonomy within the recording industry.
